Local items of interest
We are looking forward to the start of this next legislative session that will be starting soon. Right now the legislators are working to get the bill numbers assigned and putting them into the correct committees to be heard. These assignments should be posted by the 18th of January. Once they are posted I will ensure that they are posted on the CoC facebook and website, that way everybody can continue calling their representatives and asking them to support the following bills.
The Anti Profiling bill which right now has three sponsors Sen Nathan Dahm, Sen Chuck Hall and Rep Ken Luttrell.
The right of way bill which would increase the penalty for injuring or killing a motorcyclist which is being sponsored by Rep. Andy Fugate.
The lane filtering bill which is being sponsored by Rep Jon Echols.
If you have a question about who your legislators are or how to contact them you can either go to www.soonerstateabate.com/legislative-links and click on the “FIND YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS” button in the middle of the page or you can get with me and i will work to find them.
The next MEAL will be held February 22nd starting at 9am, we will be on the 2nd floor and hopefully the weather will cooperate so that we can actually have some bikes up there. Either way we will be parking in the South parking lot and entering in through the South Entrance and then the elevators are just to the left.
Federal items
S.2090, the “Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act.” The bill would amend the Clean Air Act to prevent a ban on the sale of internal combustion engines, effectively trumping any state law that outlaws their sale. S. 2090 is the Senate’s version of H.R. 1435, which recently passed out of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
While the House version of the bill is moving, the Senate version of the bill still needs more cosponsors. Will you ask your two Senators to protect the internal combustion engine?
The REPAIR Act H.R. 906 ensures that vehicle owners or repair shops are not denied access to the information, software or tools needed to work on vehicles. The proposed law also establishes rules regarding vehicle data access. This commonsense law will help preserve consumer choice and a fair marketplace.
There is a link at www.mrf.org/federal-legislative-issues/ that can assist you with sending a preformed message. it really takes about 3-4 minutes unless you want to add any additional comments.

Earlier this year, the Biden Administration rolled out plans to
shift this country to a majority electric vehicle market over
the next ten years. In June, Senator Markwayne Mullin of
Oklahoma introduced S.2090, the “Preserving Choice in
Vehicle Purchases Act.” The bill would amend the Clean Air
Act to prevent a ban on the sale of internal combustion
engines, effectively trumping any state law that outlaws their
sale. S. 2090 is the Senate’s version of H.R. 1435, which
recently passed out of the House Energy and Commerce
